Background
My academic journey has included a variety of interests before being drawn to psychology and counseling. While pursuing a degree in Biblical Studies, I recognized a need within the faith community for appropriately qualified and equipped counseling professionals. This led to a change of direction and ultimately to earning a Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology from º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½. My previous clinical experiences involved working in variety settings including community counseling center, college counseling center, private practice, and neuropsychological testing. Additionally, I have trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
In my current role, I serve as the Program Director for the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. I have the opportunity to teach a number of courses in both on-campus and online formats.
Courses
- Human Growth and Development / Psychopathology and Diagnosis
- Professional Orientation and Law and Ethics
- Assessment and Appraisal
Professional Interests
My interests in research include exploring how pastors incorporate counseling in their work as ministers, the self-care practices of pastors and missionaries, the efficacy of faith integration in counseling practice, and the perception of counseling in faith communities.
Hobbies
I enjoy spending time with my family, camping, hiking, and hope to reconnect with my passion for playing music. My favorite things include coffee, the wet Pacific º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ weather (especially the cold and colorful fall), and the San Francisco Giants.
