Position Summary
Student worker positions at Creatio Studios are designed to support a vibrant ecosystem of creative maker-scholars by providing both in-person and online resources. These roles are essential to maintaining our physical infrastructure and digital community. Each position is primarily an on-site, in-person role requiring a commitment of 10–12 hours per week. This commitment includes a mix of scheduled shifts and "on-call" availability to ensure students have support when they need it most.
- Studio Manager: Focuses on Session Management & Workflow Optimization, acting as the primary point of contact for studio bookings, facility access, and real-time technical direction.
- Studio Technician / Shop Supervisor: Focuses on Technical Infrastructure & Asset Management, acting as the steward of high-value hardware, responsible for maintenance, inventory systems, and hardware integrity.
Essential Functions
Studio Manager:
- Session Coordination: Lead the administration of the Skedda booking platform to ensure seamless transitions between student production sessions.
- Facility Oversight: Manage physical entry and ensure a professional, productive environment for active creators.
- Technical Direction: Provide peer-to-peer technical consulting and troubleshooting, helping users navigate complex creative workflows and "signal flow" issues.
Studio Technician / Shop Supervisor:
- Infrastructure Management: Maintain rigorous organization of basement and studio spaces to ensure all hardware is "session-ready" at all times.
- Quality Control & Maintenance: Execute "first-look" equipment inspections and preventative maintenance. Identify and report critical equipment failures or "out-of-commission" gear immediately.
- Logistics & Inventory: Drive the implementation of a barcode-based inventory control system to track high-value studio assets and manage the check-in/check-out lifecycle.
Education/Experience/Skills
Student Eligibility: Must be a full-time student eligible for student worker status within the university system.
Academic Standing: Candidates must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
Academic Level: Junior or Senior status is preferred.
Course Prerequisites:
- Studio Positions (Studio Manager & Shop Supervisor): Successful completion of, or current enrollment in, AVPE 2013 Audio Technology and/or AVPE 2213 Recording Engineering I.
