Charting the Future: Di Beals

By Dr. Joseph Castleberry | Posted on Monday, March 13, 2023

As you may be aware, we are launching a campaign to finance the restoration of our Butterfield Chapel and its conversion into a more complete Worship Center. Campus ministry, centered in our chapel, is crucial to everything we do at º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½. Many students love attending our mandatory chapel services throughout the week, but some of them do not. While we require applicants to our traditional undergraduate program at º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ to indicate that they are Christian believers, levels of commitment among them vary. Sometimes students arrive at º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ thinking that they are Christians, but after a single chapel service, they conclude that either they only thought they were Christians or they aren’t ready for the high-octane kind of Christianity we practice.

One of those students was Di Beals. Today, she is one of the most prominent pastors in the º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ region, but when she came to º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ as a student years ago, she actually ran away after her first chapel service and asked for her money back. I hope you will enjoy her video testimony that describes how she found an authentic faith in Christ at º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ and began the path that would lead her to a powerful career of Spirit-anointed ministry.

After 60 years of faithful service, the Butterfield Chapel still offers a place for powerful divine encounters for our students, staff, faculty, visitors, church tenants, and sometimes even casual walk-ins.  But the years haven’t been kind to the facility, and we’re determined to give it another 60 years of faithful service. You can see renderings of what the renewed chapel will look like, and we hope that you will watch Di’s testimony. We hope the Holy Spirit will speak to you as well about helping us raise the final $2 million. We need to keep the flame of revival and encounter burning in our chapel.

How Can We Best Serve You?
