Charting the Future: Les Parrott

By Dr. Joseph Castleberry | Posted on Monday, June 19, 2023

I recently saw a clip of Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., in a television interview in which he said, “I believe education is the closest thing there is to magic in America.” I immediately wrote down the quote. Sen. Scott has it exactly right. Lots of young people these days are opting out of college because they no longer believe it will give them a better life. That’s partly true. Higher education not magic. It won’t “give” you anything. But for people who work hard to get a great education, it can open the doors to great prosperity, fulfillment, and happiness. Education isn’t magic, but hard work is, and when you put the two together and weave faith into the mix, you’re going to thrive. When higher education happens in a place like º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½, students earn a high-quality education for future professional practice, with the added benefit of solid biblical training, theological insight, spiritual formation, and a community of believers to help them walk through what Dr. Les Parrott calls “the defining decade.”

Dr. Parrott holds faculty status at º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ in addition to his phenomenal work as one of the nation’s leading experts on marriage and relationships (along with his wife, Dr. Leslie Parrott). In this video, he describes his experience of º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ and its effect on students by doing a sort of “magic trick” with a Hoberman sphere. I hope you’ll enjoy his comments.

We will always keep doing higher education right at º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½.
