What To Do In The Neighborhood

NU sits on 54 acres of rolling green grass and tall evergreens. While there is plenty to do on campus, you’ll find lots of ways nearby to spend your free time with fellow Eagles.

What’s good NU? Let’s look at the best things to do around campus, starting with Coastline Burgers.

All right, I mean, we got our food. Now instead of eating inside of a restaurant like boring people, it’s a nice and sunny day out. Kirkland’s beautiful, so we’re going to go by the water. It’s going to be amazing.

Yeah, pretty good.

Literally nothing better. You just finished your burger—Coastline Burgers, incredible, phenomenal. It’s the spot. You’re looking out at the water, then you look down at the bottom of your bag and there’s a couple extra fries. And you get just that extra cherry on top—fries at the bottom.

I’m going to check out the farmers market and support small local businesses.

Kirkland Farmers Market—not even two miles away from campus—and we’re about to see some phenomenal fruits and vegetables, some flowers, some candles. They have horchata there too.

All right, so we’re here in Kirkland at a local farmers market. Where are you guys from?

We’re actually from Yakima.

Crazy. So this is pretty much the only time that you can get this in Kirkland. Otherwise you’re going to have to drive to Yakima, which is too far to drive for a college student. So how long have you guys been doing this?

About six years, but we’ve been here at the market around four years.

That’s awesome. We’re excited to try it. Can we get some?

Definitely.

They claim it’s the best horchata you’ll ever drink.

All right, Farmers Market walking around made us a little hot. The horchata did its job for a bit, but now we’re here at the water. It’s a different park, about half a mile away, if even. There’s a nice dock over there. They’ve got volleyball, they’ve got a playground—I mean, who doesn’t like to go down the slide?

So I’m going to jump in the water today, and it’s going to be glorious.

All right, so this is a little insider tip for anyone coming to º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½. The beach that we were just at is packed full of people, so if you want something a little bit more private, we know a spot. We’re out here—it’s right outside of Aegis Living. There aren’t as many people here. It’s much more calm. So if you don’t want loud music and you just kind of want to chill a little bit more, this is the spot.

Watch out, watch out, watch out—watch this.

We’re at Totem Lake, and there’s everything you need here. There’s a Cinemark, ramen, Nordstrom Rack, Whole Foods, MOD Pizza, Panda Express. This is the spot. You’ve got everything you need here.

Since it’s like 80 degrees out, we wanted to go to Salt & Straw, get some ice cream, refresh ourselves. After a hot day, we need some ice cream.

All right, open that bad boy up. Let’s see what’s inside here. This is from Joe’s Burgers. Oh man, look at that. Not even ten bucks for a nice chicken burger. Second one of the day. Shout out to Luke—we picked him up on the way.

Right behind me we have a Cinemark—you can see it behind me. On Tuesdays, you can go there and see a movie for like five bucks. And I’m telling you, the seats are so nice. You can recline in them.

Perfect. And best of all, free parking.

Walk To The Waterfront

º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ is located near Lake Washington with its many waterfront parks and restaurants. Take a stroll down the boardwalk via Google maps. Better yet, take a dip in the lake once you’re here.
